Simon McDonald

Simon McDonald is Head of the Local Government Practice and his focus is on executive level recruitment across local government and related businesses. Simon is based at our London office.

Simon has almost 20 years of experience as a local government employee having worked in housing and social services in senior roles prior to taking on the role of Assistant Chief Executive in a London borough. Prior to joining Odgers, Simon was an interim manager working for public sector organisations mainly in the field of human resources and organisational development. This role and his previous experience as Director of a consultancy company saw him working in local authorities across the UK and his experience spans district, county, unitary and London authorities.

Simon took his first degree in Philosophy and also has an MBA. He has a particular interest in organisational development and design and has worked extensively on public-sector turnaround projects and on local authority performance systems management.
